CORRECTION on PARTY DATE

Due to an unidentified adult leader having a "senior moment" the DATE for the Crew Christmas party was erroreously announced as the 23rd. It is, in fact, Sunday the 16th (as in this coming Sunday). The unidentified adult leader apologizes for the error and hopes he can, at least, be credited with getting the correct day of the week!

To summarize, the Crew meeting/party will be this Sunday, the 16th, from 4 to 8'ish at the Coales. Contact your Crew president or Mr. Marsh for more information!

Class B Shirts

Here's the tee-shirt design I'm looking at and some of the color combinations available. What's your preference? I kind of like the gold shirt with the forest green lettering - it's the Venture colors - but we can go with the consensus of opinion. Let Mr. Marsh know if you'd like to see some additional color combinations.

Indian River Trip!

We will be leaving from Glen's parking lot at 12 PM on Tuesday June 12. Class A uniforms should be worn during travel!

To participate in tubeing or rafting at Big Bear Adventures, you must be qualified as a "swimmer" under BSA guidelines. If you have not been skill tested for swimming, we will do so at the public beach. Check with our BSA qualified lifeguards, Chris C. or Wil S. for details on what swimming skills are required to meet "swimmer" classification.

Tuesday evening will be a beach party with dinner at the park. The adult leaders are looking forward to a wonderful meal prepared by the Crew! The "lock-in" at the Arch will kick off at 10 PM. You are welcome to bring personal electronic devices, such as I-pods, CD players, video games and John Denver 8 track tapes. Board games, card games, etc. are also welcome. Remember - you will be responsible for any personal items that you bring with you!

Breakfast Wednesday will be at the Arch. Wednesday activities will be up to the Crew - there is mini-golf, trail hiking, sight seeing, shopping, etc. available. Lunch will be at a fast food restaurant of our choosing and each Scout is responsible for their meal. We expect to depart around 3 and return to Gaylord at approx. 4 PM Wednesday.

What to bring: Clothing appropriate for the weather (extended forecast looks good - sunny & warm). Rain gear / poncho (just in case - you know what they say..."Be Prepared!") Jacket or sweatshirt might be needed for Tuesday evening at the beach. Swimsuit & towel, personal grooming items, and money for Wednesday lunch and any other personal shopping you may engage in.

Permission slips have been e-mailed. There will also be some available before we depart on Tuesday. You must have a completed permission form, signed by parent or guardian to participate in this Crew event! Contact Mr. Marsh or your Crew Officers with any questions!

St. Mary Clean Up

The clean up date for St. Mary Cemetery will be Thursday May 10th at 5:30pm. Rain date for the clean up will be Friday at 5:30pm.

Please bring rakes and gloves. Tarps and/or a wheelbarrow could also be used. Mr. Neff will bring a chain saw and bow saw.

Clean up involves raking up pine cones and pine needles, picking up sticks, cutting up several large branches that are down, and removing deteriorating plastic flowers.

With enough help, clean up will take just a couple of hours. Please call (732-4051) or email Mr. Neff to let him know if you will be at the clean up. Calling everyone on the St. Mary's list will take time so your calls or emails would be appreciated.

Mowing for Fun & Profit!

The Venture Crew is being given the opportunity to participate in Troop 1's grounds maintenance fundraising deals with St. Mary's, Resurrection & Hayes Twp. cemeteries. This is a terrific opportunity for Crew members to put funds into your Scout account to help pay for activities, events, dues, uniforms, equipment, etc. Scouts and adult family members can earn $10 per hour cutting grass and / or trimming with weed whackers. Using a riding mower or lawn tractor earns $20 per hour.

You will be able to put your name on a "call list" for any & all of the cemeteries we service. The sign up sheets will be available at the next Crew Meeting, along with detailed information for you & your parents.

Any Scout wishing to participate must attend a MANDATORY safety meeting on May 9th. The Troop Safety Coordinator must confirm you have received the basic training needed to safely operate lawn care equipment.

If you or your parents have any questions, contact the Crew Advisor (Mr. Marsh), the Troop Safety coordinator (Mr. Marsh) or the Troop Treasurer (Mr. Marsh).
