Crew 1 Hailed at Hessel !

Crew 1's Roaring 20's Speak Easy won 1st place in the campsite competition at the 2010 International Scout Rally in Hessel MI. The rally theme this year was "Through the Decades" and our 1920's speak easy (hidden in the old Hessel Spat Company building) was complete with jazz music, flappers, gangsters and bootleg cider. Patrons also enjoyed a few round of old fashioned marbles in the "game area". Congratulations to all Crew members & adult volunteers that made it all work. Remember - It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!
Our awesome prizes!

The Scenic Trails Council is presenting this award for the first time in 2009 and our Crew President, Rachel Cromell has been selected to receive it! It will be presented at the Council's Annual Recognition Ceremony on October 18 in Traverse City.

Rachel's dedication of time & effort to Crew 1 and her leadership and service to the Crew over the past 3 years has been instrumental in the growth & success of our Venture Crew. We are all very proud of her and very pleased she is receiving this recognition!

The Venturing Code

As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength and traditions of our people.

I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and wil maintain a personal sense of honor in my life.

I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it.

I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.

I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks the truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.
